The SeaLife DC800 camera that comes with this kit is a tried and tested 8.0 megapixel camera that features a large 2.7-inch LCD display which is bright and sharp. The Camera lens has a built-in wide angle lens with a fast shutter response time, and offers 4x optical zoom with an additional 5x zoom achieved digitally. ISO modes range from 64 to 1600 and the built in flash has four modes: automatic, on, off, and red-eye reduction.
Apart from photographs the DC800 is capable of recording videos at 25 frames per second in 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 pixel resolutions and includes a mic allowing for sound recording underwater as well. The camera comes with 32MB of on-board memory and a SD Card slot that can handle the new large capacity SDHC cards up to 16GB.
What makes the DC800 camera stand out from regular point and shoot cameras is the SeaLife custom firmware shooting modes available that make all the difference. SeaLife has several underwater shooting modes where you can select from special underwater white balance modes for shooting at depths of 25 feet and one for below 25 feet.
White Balance modes include Ocean Blue for blue water conditions, Ocean Green for colder water or algae water conditions and a separate mode for shooting in lakes and rivers. These custom underwater shooting modes adjust the cameras settings to get the best results underwater setting this camera apart from traditional terrestrial cameras.
The housing of the DC800 is sturdy one made up of hard non-slip rubber material that fit snugly around the camera making it small and compact to use even with the housing. The housing is tested to withstand a depth of up to 200 feet which is more than youll ever need as a recreational diver. The camera itself can be taken out of its underwater housing and used as a normal camera as well.
The SeaLife Pro Digital Set comes with the SL961 Strobe with Arms and Tray which are a must have for serious underwater photographers. The strobe with a range of 2 to 8 ft. (0.6 to 2.5 m), can be used with all SeaLife cameras as well as other camera as it supports up to 5 pre-flashes. The SL961 strobe allows for variable power adjustment to manually fine tune the flash brightness for the desired effect and image exposure.
Other than the DC800 camera and the SL961 strobe, you also get the strobe arms and tray, as well as a soft travel case for the strobe. Lithium Ion rechargeable batteries, a soft camera case, wrist lanyards, a flash deflector, Sealife Moisture Muncher Capsules & the Care kit are included in the package.
